Who says Millennials are selfish?
The media is constantly pouring out negative stereotypes about today’s teenagers and twenty-somethings, the generation known as the “Millennials.” Millennials are defined as people born somewhere between the mid 1980’s and early 2000’s.
Everywhere you look, you see and hear complaints about Millennials. Adjectives like lazy, narcissistic, and entitled are among the most popular. However, whatever your personal opinions may be, there’s a much more positive adjective that can be added to the list according to a new study: generous!
A survey carried out by the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) found that in a sample of 400 respondents (which largely included Millennials), a third of men planned to give diamond jewelry to their wives or girlfriends for the holidays. This is up significantly from a quarter of men buying diamond jewelry last holiday season.
A DPA spokesman believes that this increase is due to Millennials’ “desire to do something more personal and intimate,” buying diamonds instead of gift cards for their loved ones. So it’s not all about selfies! Millennials love diamonds just as much as other generations!
Keep in mind this study only involved those in committed relationships, but I’m optimistic!
